The Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) issued an inspection report recently on Alexander Dickson Primary School.
Inspectors noted that ‘the vibrant community spirit fostered within Alexander Dickson Primary School creates successfully a positive, welcoming environment in which all of the children are valued and participate actively in their learning’.
The principal, Richard Lawther, expressed his delight with the inspection results.
“We are incredibly proud of the findings in the ETI inspection report. It is a true reflection of the dedication, care and collaboration that define our school,” said Mr Lawther.
“I want to commend our staff for their unwavering commitment to understanding and meeting the individual needs of our pupils and to thank our parents, governors and the wider community for their ongoing support as well as our pupils who we could not be prouder of.
“Together, we have created an environment where children are not only safe and supported but also inspired to grow into confident, independent learners.
“This report affirms the exceptional work happening here at Alexander Dickson and we will continue to build on this success for the benefit of all our pupils.”
The report noted a particular strength was the successful, collaborative working relationships that exist among all staff.
The inspection team commended staff’s understanding of all the children’s needs and who, through carefully considered approaches and strategies, are effectively meeting the needs of all children.
All planning, assessment, learning and teaching observed during the inspection were effective.
The pupils’ behaviour was found to be ‘exemplary’ with children displaying confidence, independence and strong self-management skills and who were observed to engage positively with their peers and teachers.
Inspectors observed how the voice of the child is encouraged and valued throughout the school and found the children to have a great sense of pride in and belonging to their school.
The school was given the highest rating possible for their child protection provision with inspectors noting that its policies and procedures fully align with current statutory guidance with the school clearly providing a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.
