Abby dances her way to success

A TALENTED young Highland dancer from Dundonald is celebrating after a string of recent successes.

Twelve year-old Abby Morgan, has clinched trophies in competitions all over Northern Ireland, England and Scotland and is now preparing to dance her way into the upper echelons of her beloved pastime.

In the past year, Abby has been competing in the ‘intermediate’ category under the tuition of Michelle Johnston in Moneyrea, but she is now aiming for a promotion to ‘premier’ status.

The talented young lady, who is a pupil of Grosvenor Grammar School, is practicing extra hard in preparation for the top flight league which will enable her to compete in championship events for the first time this year. 

Abby’s recent competition wins have secured her trophies at events locally in Comber and Belfast, but also across Northern Ireland in Clough, Cookstown, Enniskillen, Derry~Londonderry and Dungannon.

She has also danced her way to compete in events in Corby, Newcastle and Glasgow.

In addition to competitive wins, Abby – who has danced in sold out stadium tours of Limerick, Waterford, Dublin and Belfast – was overjoyed to be the youngest Highland dancer selected to perform with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland’s Peace Proms.
