ULSTER WOMEN’S
PREMIER LEAGUE
ARDS 2
BANBRIDGE 0
ARDS delivered a composed performance to secure a 2-0 win over Banbridge last Friday night that kept them at the summit of the Women’s Premier League table.
The Oranges dominated possession in the early stages, with Alyssa Boyd pulling strings in midfield and linking up well with the forward line. Despite Banbridge’s organised defensive structure, Ards sustained pressure with play largely focused in their attacking half, forcing a series of circle entries and shots at goal.
After a goalless first half, Ards broke the deadlock in quarter three when Naomi Grundie stepped up to convert a penalty corner with precision. The momentum continued into the final quarter, and it was Maddie Leathem who stole the show with a spell of individual brilliance before unleashing a reverse shot from the top of the circle to double the lead.
Banbridge looked to respond but were met with a resolute defensive line led by Alana Doyle as Ards held out for a clean sheet and another three points.
The result maintains their position at the top of the division and Ards will look forward to meeting third placed Lisnagarvey this weekend.
