Ards Rangers Women on the rise after securing competitive status
ARDS Rangers FC Women are set to embark on the next step of their journey after being accepted into the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association (NIWFA).
Following a successful season in the South Belfast Youth League (SBYL) Development League in 2022, and with some restructuring and increased training sessions, the club now feels it is more than ready to take on this exciting opportunity.
Having been formed almost two years ago to provide fun football to women in the community, Ards Rangers are delighted to be in the position to add a competitive football option to their offering. Social football at the club will continue for those who are not interested in playing competitively but there will be a continued overlap in the training for both parts of the women’s team.
The NIWFA are the body which operates the various divisions that sit immediately below the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership, seeing six divisions comprising 50 teams in total for 2023.
Commenting on the milestone, Ards Rangers Women FC wrote: “We are very proud to have been accepted and we thank our players, coaches, sponsors and senior committee for their support in getting us to this point.
“We look forward to a competitive season and the opportunities and challenges it will bring for our team. Thanks also to the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association for providing women with the chance to play football competitively in Northern Ireland.”
