MOTOCROSS fans are in for a treat over the coming weeks as the much-anticipated Brian Bell Memorial Motocross returns to Laurelbank MX Park in Saintfield for two evenings of thrilling, high-energy racing.

Organised by the Temple Motorcycle & Athletic Club, the action begins on Wednesday, June 11, with the second round set for Tuesday, July 16.

This long-running event honours the memory of Brian Bell, a promising young grasstrack rider whose life was tragically cut short in 1969 at just 24 years of age. In the wake of the tragedy, his family turned to the Temple Club to help create a memorial race in his name. Over 50 years later, the Brian Bell Memorial continues to grow in stature and remains a cornerstone of the local motocross calendar.

Brian and his brothers left a lasting legacy on the local grass track and scrambling scene. Today, the Bell family is still heavily involved in supporting the event and remains an integral part of the Temple MCC community. For many Northern Irish motocross riders, competing in the Brian Bell Memorial has become a rite of passage and the Memorial Cup is a fiercely contested honour, with riders eager to etch their names into the history books alongside past champions.

The races will take place at Laurelbank Motocross Park, the Temple Club’s home track. With support from local sponsor Millers Oils & Lubricants, the venue has undergone further improvements this year. The course has been fully prepared with rider safety and performance in mind, while new elevated marshal lookout points have been installed to enhance both visibility and safety on the track.

Following last year’s impressive turnout, organisers are hoping for another strong showing from riders and fans alike. With the paddock opening at 3pm, spectators can soak up the atmosphere early, enjoy the buzz of race day and catch a glimpse of the local motocross stars as they gear up. Signing-on begins at 4pm, followed by practice at 5.30pm. The first race will begin at 6.30pm sharp.

Admission is £5, payable at the gate, with under 16s going free of charge. It’s an ideal evening out for families, racing fans, and anyone eager to witness the excitement and skill that Northern Ireland’s motocross community has to offer.

The Temple Motorcycle Club extends its best wishes to all competitors and spectators for a safe and unforgettable event and looks forward to welcoming you to Laurelbank.
