Castle Gardens team set for first-ever NI finals

Castle Gardens Primary School's hockey team have advanced to the Northern Ireland finals in April.

THE girls’ hockey team from Castle Gardens Primary School, Newtownards are to compete at the McCloy Cup for the first time in the school’s history.

It’s after they came away with silver medals from Ulster Hockey’s Ards and North Down qualifier tournament at Regent House, played in brutal weather conditions.

The Pearson and McCloy cups are annual primary school hockey tournaments for boys and girls which bring together hundreds of young players from across the province. This year’s Finals Day will be held at Playball, Stormont on April 14.
