
CONWAY Square in Newtownards will be at the centre of a two-day festive programme, with music, markets – and a chance to meet Paddington Bear.
Christmas in Conway Square takes place on Friday, November 28, from 11am to 7pm, and Saturday, November 29, from 10am to 7pm, when there will be music, markets, family entertainment.
On Friday at 4pm, the Christmas lights will be switched on.
Organised in partnership with Ards and North Down Borough Council and Newtownards Chamber of Trade, the events include a two-day Christmas Market and bar in Conway Square.
A festive trail – the Newtownards Christmas Passport – will take place on Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Passports will be available at the following locations in the town: Newtownards Visitor Centre, Focus, Newtownards Library, Caffe Nero, The Toy Box, Peacocks, Wardens of Newtownards, Cordners, Moda Shoes, Hair & Co, Menarys, Streetlife and Yummies. Passport activities are free but subject to change and availability.
Those taking part on the trail can have their passports stamped while enjoying fun activities, treats and goodies at the participating businesses and attractions. Everyone is free to follow their own order on the trail.
Making special appearances throughout Saturday (from 11am to 3.30pm), will be everyone’s favourite bear, Paddington. Also on Saturday (from 10am to 7pm) there will be a Paddington-themed Christmas crafts event at Ards Arts Centre, Town Hall, featuring a Christmas Postbox, an installation celebrating kindness and creativity. Activities include making recycled-paper postcards, contributing to a collaborative mural of doodles and messages, and snapping selfies with a giant post-box and suitcase prop.
