Dan heads Down Under with manager’s well wishes

MATTHEW Tipton has paid tribute to the departing Dan Reynolds after it was confirmed the forward has stepped away from Irish League football and moved to Australia.

Reynolds, who joined Ards in 2020 following a spell with Carrick Rangers, went on to play 60 games in red and blue and scored 11 goals, including a last-gasp equaliser to send this season’s League Cup tie with Ballymena United to extra time.

“Dan’s a lovely guy and a very good footballer . I’ve got nothing but admiration for him,” said Tipton.

“I actually tried to sign him previously at other clubs and he’s just been a little bit unfortunate this season with game time given Adam Salley’s form.

“In my time here, Dan has been a delight to work with,” he added. “He always worked hard, came in with a smile on his face and came up with some important goals for us too.

“Dan’s someone I have bundles of time for and will probably stay in touch with, which doesn’t happen an awful lot in football – particularly between players and managers – but he was such a good lad and a professional for me.”
