A FORMER Newtownards resident has cast out the charity net to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Warren Malcolm, known as Mal and now residing in Scotland, organised a fundraising fishing event at Loch Etive in Argyll and Bute.
A total of 202 fish were caught (and returned to the water), and the event raised a total of £2,500.
Mal’s decision to hold the event was made following the death of his mum, Sadie, from Cairndore Gardens, who passed away due to lung cancer.
Following the event, Mal presented trophies to the successful anglers, including Sadie’s grandson Kai who gained second spot and was part of the winning ‘best boat’
