TWO local karate athletes have enjoyed medal success at the prestigious British Open Championship.
Levi Kane and Amy Adair, both from Conlig, collected two medals each at the event in Harlow, Essex. Hosted by Karate England, it attracted karateka from across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
In the individual events, both ladies shone. Levi collected a silver medal in the Wado-Ryu kata category and was closely followed in the bronze medal position by Amy.
Levi went on to add another silver medal to her growing collection in the All-Styles individual kata event.
Current IKU world bronze medallist Amy then collected another bronze medal, this time in her Sanbon Kumite (three-point sparring) event.
David Brashaw, who coaches both athletes at the local Mizukara clubs, said: “I was delighted to see our top two ladies mixing it with some of the best in the world and bringing more medals back to Northern Ireland. Simply superb.”
