Jared leads Harriers home in Bangor 10K

Ballydrain Harriers

 

TWENTY one runners from Ballydrain Harriers took part in the Bangor 10K on Saturday.

This flat fast race starts in Castle Park follows through Bangor Town Centre, heads countrywards towards Groomport, comes back into the town and finishes at Ward Park.

Over 1,300 runners took part in the event which was won by Annadale Striders’ Brhane Gebrebrhan, who won the men’s race in 30:16, and by his club colleague Hannah Gilliland, who won the women’s race in 35:17. 

The first Ballydrain Harrier male was Jared Martin in 32:17, followed by David Spalding 32:57 and Fergal Magee in 36:56. Sarah Moorcroft was the first Ballydrain lady across the finish in a speedy PB of 41:54, followed by Katherine Moore 48:01, and Joanne Regan in 48:40.

Deserving special mention are Ballydrain Harriers who achieved PBs – Matthew Stanex 40:08, Joanne Ewart 48:26, and Suzi McIlwain in 51:48.

On Sunday Ballydrain Harrier Colin McClements ran in the 50th anniversary BMW Berlin Marathon and finished with a seven-minute personal best in 02:41:36.

Also on Sunday, Daniel Burns joined the 8,000 participants in the Loch Ness Marathon, finishing in 03:27:32.
