THE Temple Motorcycle and Athletic Club promoted the second round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt on Saturday.

In the opening Superbike race, Jonny Campbell took his BMW into the lead ahead of Carl Phillips on the SBT BMW and Jamie Lyons on the JLR/Ability Engineering Honda, closely followed by Richard Cooper, Mike Browne and Sam Laffins.

As the race progressed, Phillips moved past Campbell to take the lead, with Lyons still third, Irwin now in fourth, Laffins up to fifth and Browne down to sixth.

With three laps to go, Phillips still held a slender lead from Campbell and Lyons went out of the race, promoting Irwin up to third, just ahead of Laffins, Browne and Ryan Gibson.

At the flag, Phillips beat Campbell to victory and Irwin just held off Laffins to take third place, while Browne and Gibson were fifth and sixth.

Phillips made it a double in race two, leading from start to finish, and was followed home by Campbell once more. Laffins inherited third place after Lyons dropped down the field, holding off the advancing, Gibson, Scottish visitor Luke Jones and Derek Sheils.

The Davy Morgan Memorial Trophy was the reward put up by the Temple Club for the overall winner in the Supersport class, in memory of the Saintfield rider who sadly lost his life at the Isle of Man TT.

In race one, Korie McGreevey just held the lead on the McAdoo Kawasaki, from Richard Cooper on the Russell Racing Yamaha and Paul Jordan on the Jackson racing Ducati. Jeremy McWilliams was fourth, followed by Christian Elkin and Gary McCoy.

At the end of lap seven, Cooper took the lead as McGreevey unfortunately crashed out of the race, and he held his position to the flag winning, from Jordan, McWilliams and Elkin. McCoy was fifth and William Donnelly made up the top six.

With Cooper and McGreevey non-starters for race two, Elkin just managed to hold off Jordan, by 0.124 of a second, to take the victory. Caolan Irwin finished third, ahead of McWilliams, Adam Brown fifth and McCoy.

Paul Jordan was awarded the Davy Morgan Trophy based on results over the two races.

William Graham and Joel Haire shared the honours in the Moto 1 class, while Elkin won both Spence Engineering/SJ Jones Supertwin races.

Jonathan Gregory was a double winner in the Superbike Cup races, as was Christian Boyles, who won both Supersport Cup races.

Ruben Sherman Boyd won both Lightweight Supersport races and Alfie Flynn was unbeaten in both Moto 3 races.
