The President of The Ards Battalion of The Boys ‘Brigade, Stephen Boyle, hosted a King`s Badge celebration in the Newtownards Town Hall on Friday.
This event celebrated the achievements of 12 young men- Harry Scott ,1st Ballygowan, James Mc Dowell, 1st Ballygrainey, Peter Russell, 1st Carrowdore, Jack Davies, Matthew Greene, Joshua Pearson, Nathan Young, all 1st Comber, Joshua Finlay, Matthew Harris, Cameron Montgomery, Carter Mc Ilwrath, all 6th Newtownards and Nathan Watson, 7th Newtownards who all gained the highest award in the Boys` Brigade.
These are the first King`s Badges to be awarded in the Ards Battalion and in The Boys` Brigade Northern Ireland ( BBNI)
At the presentation were invited guests, Mr. David Chambers, deputy Mayor of Ards and North Down Council, Jim Shannon, Strangford MP, Tom Wightman the Ards Battalion King’s Badge advisor, Honorary Vice Presidents of the Ards Battalion.
At the presentation ceremony are the young men who received the badges, their parents along with their company captains and mentors and members of the battalion executive.
