CONLIG’s Levi Kane continued her preparations for the forthcoming IKU European Karate Championships in style at the recent WUKF Southeast Open Karate Championships in Waterford.
The former world silver medallist in Wado-Ryu kata was delighted as she took the kata (patterns) gold at this quality event against top-level opposition. She then followed that performance with an excellent silver in the final of the Ippon Kumite (one-point sparring) against world champion Clodagh Collins of the Pat Rockett Karate and Kickboxing Academy. In the Sanbon Kumite (three-point sparring) event, Levi added a bronze medal to complete her full set of medals on the day.
Coach David Brashaw said: “Levi is a world-class athlete, who continues to impress at each event that she competes in. I am very pleased with the progress that she is making towards her upcoming international goals.”
