THE Northern Ireland Scrambles Club held their annual International Classic two-day Motocross event at Ballysallagh Road near Bangor last weekend.

Heavy overnight rain left the course in unsafe condition on Saturday, with the club opting to cancel racing on safety grounds. A large crowd was however entertained by some close and exciting racing in perfect conditions on Friday evening.

Tommy Merton proved to be the class act of the meeting, winning the Group A class overall from James Thompson and Luke Stockdale. Stuart Tweedie was top dog in group B from Nathan Graham and Andy Nicholl.

Dwyane McCracken won group C from John Campbell and Matt Miller and the Pre 65 class was won by James Thompson from John Griffiths and Harry Stitt.

David Wilson took the Pre 70s race from Martin Stitt and Ryan McMaster, while Pre 74 honours went to Peter Turtle, beating Wesley Stockdale and Ian Buchannan.
