HARLEQUINS LADIES SECONDS 1
ARDS Ladies Seconds stretched their unbeaten run to four matches and kept their hopes of a top-three finish intact with victory over Belfast Harlequins at Londonderry Park.
The locals started well with Olivia Thompson and Ellis Macleod making their mark on the attacking side of the game, linking up well with full-backs Eva Patton and Becky Kirk.
The opening goal came from some slick passing down the left flank and a deflection into the circle from Frankie Mcknight was well finished by Amy Crossman from close range to give the Oranges a 1-0 lead.
Ards fouled the advantage in the second half when following another good passing move, Vikki Reid got the final touch to help give the side some breathing space in a game that was becoming heavily fought in the centre of the pitch.
A final quarter of clinical defending from the Oranges saw Tara McCombe, Erin Adams and Ruth Sutherland dominate and despite the visitors snatching a consolation goal in the closing moments, some great tackles and smart outletting to relieve pressure helped Ards see out a 2-1 win and record another three points.
Elsewhere, the 1st XI’s scheduled EHYL2 fixture with Lisnargarvey was abandoned due to poor weather.
