PBs galore for Harriers and Christina McConnell at Jimmy’s 10k

THE highly anticipated Jimmy’s 10k organised by East Down AC delivered a host of outstanding results for Ballydrain Harriers.

Fastly becoming one of Northern Ireland’s most competitive races over the 10K distance, the Harriers turned out in force for the 25th anniversary of the event.

Club captain Chris Drysdale was first home for Ballydrain in an outstanding time of 33:22. Kristopher Wilson followed in a time of 34:44, with Nathan Catterson next in 36:54. Christina McConnell was the first lady home for the club and overall winner in the F35 category, shaving a massive two minutes and 52 seconds off her PB to cross the line in 40:46.

Amanda Jackson (43:30) was followed by Kirsty Bogle in 44:37 and Stuart Neale was the overall winner in the M50 category, completing the course in 37:28.

An already successful day for the club was made even better with a host of Harriers securing PBs along the way. These included Nathan Patterson finishing in 36:54, Andy Thomson in 38:21, Neil Graffin in 39:14 and James Lyons in 48:20.

Moving from the tarmac to the trail, the NIMRA Championship Slieve Gullion Mountain Race took place in county Armagh. The race, which starts on the north side of the mountain, is ran over 3.9 miles with 340 metres of elevation. James Lappin completed the tough course in an impressive 35:39, followed by Mark Dugan in 37:48 and Andrew Wallace in 42:51.

Wrapping up a week of successful running for the club, a handful of Harriers could be found among the almost 5,000 runners lined up outside Belfast City Hall to take on the popular St. Patrick’s Day Craic 10K race.

Drew Fowler was first home for the club in a fantastic time of 33:46 (PB), followed by Dovydas Pliauga (PB) and Chris Drysdale who both crossed the finish line in 36:16.
