It’s all change for one of the Saturday Market’s longest serving members.
Roy Storey sells ladies fashions and men’s workwear on the market for over 44 years. After his long service to the many thousands of loyal customers he has decided to close and retire.
Not only was he there for 44 years he is one of the founding members of the Group that took over the running of he market almost 25 years ago.
So many changers over the years and he has seen them all through the winter months rain and snow Roy turned up every Saturday with his brother Paul to set up for a day’s trading on the market.
Roy was also on the committee that runs the day to day running of the market and retired as its chairman, his dedication to the market will never be forgotten. I know I speak not only for his fellow traders and friends but also for thousands of his loyal customers over the years. Also special thank you comes from two local charity workers Dessie and Daphney Coffee for Roy’s support over many years in their fund raising efforts around the world.
A wee story from me Roy’s first day on the market, he set up but never sold a thing, but he paid the rent and 44 years he is still here.
Roy, we all wish you a very healthy and long and happy retirement.
YOUR FRIEND CLIVE!
