ARDS striker Adam Salley is harbouring hopes of a top flight return this summer, but has said he will consider an offer from the club at the end of the season.
The on-loan forward was named the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association Championship Player of the Month for March – the second time he has won the award this term – after his five goal haul helped Matthew Tipton’s men secure a top six finish.
And while Tipton will be eager to secure Salley’s services on a permanent basis, Ards are likely to face competition for the 26 year-old, with Loughgall and Warrenpoint Town among the clubs believed to be interested.
I genuinely have no idea where I will be next year,” said Salley on his future.
“Obviously, my contract at Portadown is up at the end of the season, and I’m open to offers.
“I want to be a team’s number nine and be playing week in week out at this stage of my career. Ideally, I’d like that to be in the Premiership, but I will sit down with Tippy at the end of the season. I’ll always listen to an offer from him because of the relationship that we have – it just depends on where is right for me and how I’ll fit into a team.
“March was a good month for scoring goals and I want to finish the season on 25 goals if I can,” Salley continued.
“The manager brought me in to score goals and I think I’ve justified that with 22 so far. I’ve also got a fair few assists, but I haven’t counted those up yet,” he laughed.
“We were going well in the first half of the season and had we continued in that way we might have been right in the mix for promotion, but we went through a bad patch after Christmas.
“We want to show that we’re good enough to be in the top six and hopefully we can carry our recent momentum into the rest of the split.”
