A SIX-year old Newtownards girl has sacrificed her long locks for charity, while honouring her grandfather at the same time.
Rebecca Kennedy-Smylie has raised £707 for the Princess Trust, the charity which supports children and young people who experience hair loss due to medical conditions or treatment.
Rebecca and her mum Martinque Smylie, called on the assistance of hair salon Lynsey McClelland, to cut off 10 inches of Rebecca’s hair.
Lynsey said: “Rebecca and her mother put in a tremendous amount of effort to celebrate this occasion with T-shirts, balloons, and bracelets at my salon [Hair & Co. in South Street].”
Little Rebecca decided to lop her locks, not only to make the donation to the Princess Trust, but also to honour her grandfather, who is currently fighting cancer.
She received a certificate of thanks from the Princess Trust for her selfless act.
