STRANGFORD MP, Jim Shannon, has urged the public to support this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Mr Shannon made his appeal after councillor Steven Irvine took the reins in co-ordinating the Poppy Appeal for Newtownards this year.
“It is my honour, as always, to allow constituents to use the office to make their donations to the poppy appeal and to get their poppy to wear with pride in return for that donation,” said Mr Shannon.
“We have so much to be thankful for as we see the sacrifice that was made to allow us to have the freedom to live our lives in this free nation. I would ask you to stand with those war heroes, with our service personnel past and present and support the Poppy Appeal throughout the town – wearing your poppy with pride.”
