THE opening round of the Irish Minibike Championship (IMC) took place on Sunday at Nutts Corner, delivering a high-octane day of youth racing with local talent on display.

In the Dualway Bam Bam class, Jake Todd claimed victory, holding off Louis Craig and Casey Hogg-Rogan in a closely fought contest. Making his debut in the class, Dylan Mosgrove of Newtownards completed all three races — an impressive start to his racing journey.

The Jim Farlow Junior Elite two-stroke category saw a standout performance from Buster Sherman Boyd, who took the win ahead of Riley Brown and Brandon Kennedy, nephew of Armoy club’s Bill Kennedy. In the four-stroke class, it was Zak Turkington who crossed the line first, followed by Sean O’Donovan and Michael Smith.

The Athboy Karting class showcased more top-tier talent, with Ruben Sherman Boyd taking the win from Sean O’Neiland Christopher McCallion. In the Junior Gearbox class, supported by Road Racing Ireland, Issac Finnerty claimed the top spot, while Cooper Colouhn and Annabel O’Neil rounded out the podium.

Veterans also had their moment in the spotlight. The Sam Harson’s Vets class was won by Colin Moore, ahead of Eoin Smith and Kelan Smith. In the TAG Racing Senior Stock Group Two, Sean Dagger emerged victorious, with Andrew Hutton and Dylan Wherity in pursuit.

Closing out the event was the Neil Robinson Memorial Race for Junior Mini GP, where Buster Sherman Boyd took his second win of the day. He was joined on the podium by Joel Haire in second and Boyd Knipe in third. Newtownards’ own Ella Mosgrove delivered a commendable effort to finish fifth in Race Three.
