THE memory of the late Sammy Pollock was at the heart of celebrations as Comber Music Club marked its 12th anniversary with a special memorial evening.
The event not only recognised more than a decade of music and community spirit, but also paid tribute to a founding member and long-serving chairman whose dedication helped shape the club’s success.
Sammy, who spent nearly 30 years fundraising for charity, was remembered for his tireless efforts and lasting impact on the local area.
In his honour, the club presented £7,000 to a number of charities during the evening, including Ballyhemlin Non-Subscribing Church, Motor Neurone Disease, Kidney Care UK, Air Ambulance NI and North Down Parkinson Support Group.
Since its formation, Comber Music Club has donated an impressive £35,000 to local causes, much of it driven by Sammy’s passion for fundraising and community support.
The club continues to meet every Thursday evening at Ballygowan Village Hall, where local musicians provide live entertainment in what has become a popular weekly gathering.
The anniversary event served as both a celebration and a poignant reminder of Sammy Pollock’s legacy, with his commitment to music and charity still at the forefront of the club’s work today
