Victoria Primary named as Autism Impact Education champion
THE staff at Victoria Primary School in Newtownards were delighted to be presented with the Autism NI Impact Award and become an Autism Impact Education Champion in September.
SEN co-ordinator (SENCo) at the school, Karen Campbell worked alongside the team of teachers and learning support assistants. All the staff participated in training, looking at what they as a school already provided, and what new strategies could be put into practice to ensure they catered for all of the children.
The staff are making Victoria Primary a school where children of all abilities are celebrated and valued and are creating an environment where every child can access the help and resources needed to fulfil their potential and be successful.
The school have been working closely with Autism NI for the last year and have been supporting the families of the children with Autism, helping to create a better link between school and home.
